DENVER- Ralston Valley beat Monarch 5-1 in the state hockey championship game Friday night at Magness arena.
It's the first hockey state championship in school history for Ralston Valley. Monarch, who made their first trip ever to the final game, was also seeking state title number 1.
The Coyotes took the lead in the 1st period with a power play goal from Alex Barber. But Ralston Valley scored 5 unanswered goals from there including 2 from Victor Lombardi and 2 from Greg Dyba.
The Mustangs finish the season 20-2-1. The Coyotes finish their best hockey season ever with a 19-2-2 record, both losses coming at the hands of Ralston Valley.
