LA PLATA COUNTY - Bow, the 3-month-old Jack Russell/Shepherd mix puppy who had a crossbow bolt sticking out of his hind leg, has found his forever home.

Bow was originally found in Shiprock, N.M. Someone called the local Animal Protection Office to file a report about a puppy that looked injured. Bow eventually made his way to the Farmington Animal Shelter where they surgically removed the crossbow bolt. He was put into a foster home to rehabilitate his leg and to socialize him since he was traumatized by the incident.

He was transferred to the La Plata County Humane Society due to the Farmington Animal Shelter's overwhelming amount of animals they currently have to care for.

"Once I heard about Bow, I knew it'd be an easy adoption, and we also want to help out the Farmington Shelter as much as we can since they're always full," Chris Nelson, the director of animal services at LPCHS, said.

The person responsible has not been arrested. Police do not have any leads on who shot Bow.

After the story aired, La Plata County Humane Society received more than 20 applications and 50 phone calls and emails about Bow. People from as far away as California and Indiana inquired about little Bow. But in the end, his new family is in the Four Corners area.

"I'm very glad Bow was able to find the home he deserves, but we are still full with animals that are just as deserving to finding homes of their own," Chris Nelson, the director of Animal Services at LPCHS, said.
