KUSA - A Colorado businessman confronted by 9Wants to Know claims he's "not a crook" despite a series of failed businesses and court filings involving customers, creditors, and even a criminal prosecutor.

Most recently, Paul Russum was selling lifetime teeth whitening service, but some customers say they got no service at all. 9Wants to Know tracked down the elusive entrepreneur. See what happened when 9Wants to Know confronts Russum about his financial disputes on 9News Thursday night at 9 and 10 p.m.

Contact 9Wants to Know if you were customer of one of Russum's businesses. The companies include Lifetime Tans, Lifetime Bright, Cherokee Windows of Denver, Splish Splash Spas, Heavenly Windows and Home Improvements, and Castle Pines Real Estate. Email us at or call the 9Wants to Know Hotline at 303-871-1799.

The Better Business Bureau says it has received complaints about Russum's companies dating back nearly a decade. The BBB will join 9NEWS for an online chat about being a careful consumer and avoiding scams Thursday starting at 9 p.m.

Here's some BBB Tips about protecting your money:

-Avoid paying a business up-front, if possible
-Research the business including an online search
-Give preference to established business
-Paying with a credit card provides added protection
-A "lifetime" membership, warranty or guarantee is only as good as long as the company remains in business

There are two ways to take part in the "9Wants to Know: Consumer Concerns" chat. On Twitter use the hashtag #9WTK to have your Tweets automatically added to the chat. You can also log into the chat below, or at Mobile users can log in here:
