KUSA - A woman is dead after a motorcycle collided with a car in Aurora Saturday afternoon.
Police say it happened at the intersection of E. 6th Avenue and Del Mar Circle West in Aurora at around 12:30 p.m.
"The investigation indicates that the car was faced westbound on East 6th Avenue, waiting to turn left (south) on Del Mar Circle," Aurora Police Lieutenant Jeff Turner said. "The motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the right through lane of East 6th Avenue. We believe the traffic signals for both drivers was either yellow or had just changed to red when the car turned south and the motorcycle continued east. We believe that the motorcyclist saw the car and locked the front brake causing the motorcycle to flip and strike the car, rear end first."
Police say the male driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger were taken to a local hospital. The woman was pronounced dead. The driver is in critical condition.
The driver of the car was not injured and remained at the scene.
Police do not suspect alcohol or excessive speed contributed to the crash.
The names of those involved in the accident have not been released.
Turner says numerous people stopped to help. Investigators are interviewing witnesses.
No arrests have been made.
