BOULDER - Smoke from a mobile home fire that broke out around 5 a.m. was visible from the starting line of the annual BolderBOULDER 10K race Monday.
Boulder Fire Department Public Information Officer Kim Kobel said when firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were billowing out of the windows of a mobile home in the 2600 block of Mapleton Avenue.
Firefighters immediately upgraded the fire to a second alarm due to the height of the flames and the intense heat.
Kobel said crews were concerned about protecting a nearby mobile home, but the fire did not spread. Firefighters were able to put out the fire by 5:30 a.m.
Police say they do not believe anyone lived in the mobile home, but they are going through the debris just to make sure.
There have been no reports of injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
