KUSA - John Carlin was diagnosed with Parkinson's 11 years ago but one look at his summer schedule and one would never know.
In June, the Parker resident biked in a few organized rides, including Ride the Rockies.
In July, he's riding in a week long bike fest called RAGBRAI for the fourth year. Then in August, he's taking on the MS150. All of this with Parkinson's?
Studies have shown that spinning or cycling at 80 to 90 RPMs for an hour, three times a week, can reduce Parkinson's Disease symptoms by 30 percent. John is living proof.
Biking isn't John's only passion. A couple years ago he also climbed Kilimanjaro with a group of Parkinson's patients as well as Multiple Sclerosis. A book was recently published detailing many of the participants experiences called "More Than a Mountain." According to John, the book is a must read for anyone with PD or MS.
