KUSA- Firefighters say a professional fireworks display sparked a small fire at Boardwalk Park in Windsor Thursday night.
The park was filled with people who came out to Boardwalk Park/ Windsor Lake for a free concert and the fireworks that followed.
The Windsor Fire Department says the fire was under control by 10:30 p.m.
According to Western Enterprises, Inc., the company contract by the Town of Windsor for the display, a low level firework sparked the grass fire.
The Town of Windsor responded to the incident in a news release which, in part, read:
"As a standard practice, the immediate area adjacent to the fireworks location was wet down prior to the show. Once the fire was reported more personnel and engines were dispatched and arrived on scene within minutes to a fast moving fire in grass. The fire was extinguished and hot spots were put out by the crews in under an hour. The fire was limited in size to between 2 and 3 acres."
No buildings or structures were damaged. No injuries were reported.
