WESTMINSTER - Westminster police arrested the mother of two runaways for suspicion of child neglect.

Monique Vigil, 30, is being held in the Adams County jail. She is facing two counts of child abuse criminal negligence - no injury.

Denver police located two of Vigil's children who ran away from their Westminster home early Friday morning.

Andrew and Diamond Vigil were found unharmed near the corner of West 41st Avenue and Navajo Street Friday evening.

Police say Andrew, 9, his sister, Diamond, 10, and a third sibling had an argument with their mother July 4 about watching fireworks and ultimately ran away. The oldest child, a 12-year-old, returned home at about midnight.

The parents did not report the kids missing. Police learned of the missing children while handling a report for a stolen bicycle. Police say the person reporting the bike theft indicated the Vigil kids may be responsible for taking the bike.

Westminster police detectives will continue to work with Adams County Social Services regarding the welfare of the children.
