KUSA- A portion of Interstate 70 is closed and will remain closed until the Monday morning commute.
Workers with the Colorado Department of Transportation shut down I-70 between I-25 and Federal Boulevard at 10 Friday night.
The closure is required to allow crews to safely demolish the existing Pecos Street bridge and roll the new 2,400-ton bridge into place over I-70.
Drivers will need to use 6th Avenue or I-76 as an alternate route during this closure.
The initial bridge move onto I-70 took place Saturday afternoon. The bridge will begin moving again at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday night and move into final place early Sunday morning.
