KUSA - There have been many suggestions on how to ease the congestion on Interstate 70 in the mountains. The latest one has a bit of a twist.
A company has approached the Colorado Department of Transportation with its idea and wants to work with the state on fixing the problem.
Parsons Corporation has proposed a three-phase project that would add tolled express lanes and a bus rapid transit system.
Tunnel bores would be added at the Eisenhower Tunnel. Parts of the new lanes would be suspended, much like the stretches of the highway through Glenwood Canyon.
CDOT and Parsons are talking it over to see if the two can agree on a plan.
