SUMMIT COUNTY - A solar panel project for the Summit County School District is getting the cold shoulder from residents who live near it. They say the panels are an eyesore in their mountain community.
The project is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood right next to the Summit Cove Elementary School in Dillon. The panels will supply energy to the school.
However, many residents are upset. They say the school district never gave them enough notice about the project. They also say the panels ruin their mountain views.
The Summit County school board says it notified residents by publishing articles in the local paper, parent newsletters and made several announcements at school board meetings.
Work on the solar panels has been stopped while the school board reviews the project.
