DEER TRIAL - The Deer Trail town board voted Tuesday whether it would be legal to shoot down unmanned surveillance vehicles, otherwise known as drones.

The board's vote on the proposal was a 3-3 tie, setting up the matter for an eventual vote by residents in the town of about 550 people.

The proposal would allow licensed residents to shoot down drones using a 12 gauge shotgun. It would also offer a bounty from $25 - $100 paid by the town to the hunter.

Supports of the proposal say the license would create revenue for the town. They say more than 200 people have already applied for a license.

Some at Tuesday's meeting felt the proposal would never become a reality.
