COLORADO SPRINGS - The search for a Colorado Springs teenager feared caught in a flash flood was called off after midnight on Tuesday after investigators found a body in a drainage ditch.

Rose Hammes, 16, called her mother around 3:30 p.m. on Monday from a cellphone and said she was trapped under a bridge somewhere, according to KOAA.

Several agencies spent hours looking for Rose but called off the search sometime after midnight when Colorado Springs firefighters found a body in a drainage ditch near East Platte Avenue and Wooten Road, Lt. Scott Schwall from the Stetson Hills Police Department said.

The Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed the body was that of Rose. The cause of Rose's death was blunt-force trauma and drowning.

Rose's parents told police their daughter was last seen around 3p.m. when she went on a walk. Rose was last seen wearing a gray shirt and khaki pants or khaki capris. She is white, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, has a thin build and has short brown hair.
