ARAPAHOE COUNTY - Everything was in place for the advisement hearing into the stabbing death of Yun Mi Hoy with the exception of one thing: the defendant, 18-year-old Isabella Guzman.
She chose instead to stay in her jail cell refusing to attend the 8:30 a.m. hearing.
The court rescheduled the hearing for 1:30 p.m This time, Guzman did appear in court.
She was advised of the charges is facing, including first-degree murder and two counts of a crime of violence.
Guzman is accused of stabbing her mother 79 times in the bathroom of their home in Aurora.
The arrest affidavit in the case states Yun Mi Hoy was stabbed 31 times in her face and 48 times in her neck. It also states Guzman was seen leaving the scene armed with a knife.
Guzman will be back in court for another hearing on Sept. 13.
