GREELEY - Whole neighborhoods in Greeley and Evans are underwater after days of flooding.

Roads east of Greeley are cut off by flooding, and broad swaths of land inundated by water.

SKY9 flew over the area Friday afternoon. Ariel views show what appears to be Eastwood Village mobile park and the surrounding neighborhood completely submerged.

Greeley authorities say the South Platte River has over taken its banks on a large margin. East Evans between Hwy 85 and the South Platte River is underwater.

A large portion of East Greeley between Fern Ave. and E. 18th Street also experience flooding. Expect flood waters to rise until about 6 p.m.

City officials say residents should stay home unless they are escaping rising water. Traffic in and around the community is becoming congested.

The view from SKY9 showed livestock trapped in the flood waters. A man is seen escaping flooded farmland on horseback as rescue crews ferry an inflatable raft carrying at least two dogs.

Greeley authorities say most residents were able to get animals to higher ground. However, some animals had to be left behind. Experts say horses and cows can make it through the flood a few days.

The City of Evans reported that flood damage has compromised the 1st Avenue waste water treatment facility. The city is issuing a mandatory do-not-flush advisory. The system may be down for 10 days.
