KUSA - The Colorado Avalanche announced Tuesday they have signed second-round draft pick Chris Bigras to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The defenseman last season had 38 points (eight goals) for the Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League with a plus-35 rating in 68 games. The 18-year-old is 6-foot-1, 186 pounds.
"Chris is a young and talented prospect with a bright future," Avs executive vice president Joe Sakic said. "We are excited to have him under contract and look forward to seeing him in the upcoming preseason games."
The Avs open the preseason Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center against Anaheim at 7 p.m. Colorado also plays at home Friday. The regular season starts Oct. 2.
