Colorado Parks and Wildlife was not involved at first. Broomfield Animal Services and Broomfield Police were aware of the situation.

Police were on the scene making sure it does not harm anyone.

However, around 7:30 a.m., Broomfield Police said they were calling Parks and Wildlife officials to get them involved and possibly tranquilize the moose. Around 10 a.m., Parks and Wildlife officials tranquilized the moose and planned to take it back to the wild as soon as possible.

The moose is male, according to Parks and Wildlife, is probably 2 to 3 years old and weighs 800 to 1,000 pounds.

They asked residents to just leave the moose alone.

A witness first told 9NEWS about the moose Monday morning, claiming it was in the courtyard of her apartment building north of 120th Avenue just east of U.S. 36.

Around 7 a.m., Sky9 was able to fly over the area and find the moose.
