DENVER - Denver apartment residents were concerned for a dog's safety after they found it locked in an apartment lounge for at least 16 hours wearing a diaper.
Catherine Pikus was visiting her sister at a downtown Denver apartment complex when she noticed the dog was wearing a diaper and locked in the apartment complex's clubhouse Wednesday afternoon.
Catherine returned hours later and noticed the dog was still there. Catherine and her sister shot video of the dog whining and scratching at the door.
The women called police, and an officer showed up to investigate early Thursday morning. They found feces all over the lounge.
Pikus said animal control was investigated Thursday morning. They are trying to determine if there are any animal cruelty issues with this case.
There were no tags on the dog, and it does not appear to be microchipped.
If no one claims the dog, they will put the dog up for adoption if it passes a behavior evaluation.
