DENVER - The Colorado Department of Public Health is investigating an E. coli outbreak at three metro-Denver Jimmy John's restaurants.

The health department says none of the initial eight people were hospitalized and all have recovered. However, they have just learned of a few other people who might be linked to this investigation. One of those individuals is hospitalized.

The people ate at Jimmy John's between Oct. 5 and 9. They became sick between the Oct. 7 and 15, and the cases were reported on the Oct. 18.

The department believes it was from some sort of produce, but is not sure whether it was put in sandwiches, wraps or salads. The health department says all three restaurants will remain open because they say the outbreak was not from handling procedures inside the restaurants, and there is no longer a public risk.

The department isn't telling 9NEWS which Jimmy John's caused those illnesses. Right now, the FDA is doing a traceback, meaning the agency is trying to identify the where the source of the produce with E. coli came from.

The department of health says Jimmy John's has been cooperating throughout the investigation.
