LAKEWOOD - Lakewood High School students and the Red Cross gathered together Tuesday to celebrate the school's success in raising more than $9,000 to help Coloradans affected by disasters.

Members of the student senate presented a giant check to the American Cross of Colorado CEO, who led a presentation showing how the money will help.

The money raised was part of the One World Roar campaign.

Lakewood High School won pop star Katy Perry's "Roar" lip-dub competition, earning a free concert at their school in October.

The school used that award as a platform to promote charitable giving across the country. High schools across the country raised $1,000 each to give to a charity of their choice.
