LITTLETON - A student as well as a couple walking their dog reported seeing a mountain lion near Heritage High School in Littleton Tuesday morning.

Littleton Police were dispatched to the area to search for the animal but were unsuccessful. They did find paw prints that could possibly be from a mountain lion. The paw prints were discovered in a green belt area behind Heritage that links to a trail near the Platte River.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials also came to the scene. According to Public Information Officer Jennifer Churchill with Parks and Wildlife, officers responded to the area and were unable to locate a lion.
