DENVER - Denver police are investigating the death of two people whose bodies were found inside a home during a burglary call Thursday.
The home is located in the 1900 block of Trenton Street in east Denver. Officers arrived at the home around 3 p.m.
Police do not know how long the unidentified bodies were inside the house before they were discovered.
Police radio traffic indicates that a man came home to find the house ransacked and the backdoor open.
The man who reported the incident also told a 911 dispatcher that there was an unfamiliar car in the driveway of the home, according to police radio traffic obtained from broadcastify.com.
Police obtained a search warrant late Thursday evening and are now inside the home. The Mobile Crime Lab is also on scene to assist detectives in their investigation.
"Officers did enter the residence and discovered two dead bodies, but at this time, it doesn't appear that we need to alert the community that there is an active shooter going around," Raquel Lopez with the Denver Police Department said.
Residents said the Stapleton-area neighborhood is a safe and usually quiet.
No other information was immediately available.
