THORTON - A man wanted in connection to the murder of his estranged wife and mother-in-law has been found dead after a standoff at a Thornton apartment complex.

A SWAT team surrounded the apartment on Friday night after a daylong manhunt for 37-year-old Cimmeron Johns and exchanged fire with the suspect.

Johns is suspected in the disappearance and deaths of his 36-year-old estranged wife, Alisha Johns, and her 56-year-old mother, Sherri Pachello.

Authorities believe the man found dead after the standoff is Johns, but Sgt. Matt Kandt with the Thornton Police Department says it's unclear if he shot himself or was shot by officers.

The Weld County Sheriff's Department says two bodies found south of Frederick on Friday were the missing women.

Weld County deputies say that Pachello had called her husband to let him know a car had been chasing her as she was out looking for her daughter in the Frederick area.

Deputies learned that Pachello had found her daughter who had gone to visit Cimmeron Johns and left in a Ford Explorer. Deputies found a crash site nearby and Cimmeron Johns' car abandoned at the scene.
