Aurora officer injured in chain-reaction crash

KUSA - An Aurora police officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following a chain-reaction on South Parker Road Saturday afternoon.

Police say the crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of South Parker Road and East Arapahoe Road.

Investigators say a BMW driver headed north on South Parker Road didn't see traffic slowing in front of him for a traffic signal. The BMW rear-ended a Chevrolet pickup truck which caused a chain reaction crash.

The truck was pushed into a marked Aurora Police vehicle which was pushed into a Honda CRV which was then pushed into a Honda Pilot.

The Police Officer and the driver of the BMW were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.Their identities are not being released.

The driver of the BMW will be charged with following too closely.
