Colorado's Optiv buys data science company

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Optiv, the Denver-based cyber security company, has purchased a data science company to bolster Optiv's ability to help clients manage the explosion of information and software associated with cloud computing, big-data technology and the "internet of things."

Terms of the deal for Columbia, Maryland-based Decision Lab were not disclosed.

Decision Lab's 20 employees become part of Optiv's unit that develops technology that meet new kinds of client needs, said Sean Catlett, Optiv's senior vice president for emerging services.

"They're a dedicated team of highly-specialized data scientists," he said. "That's a pretty unique thing."
