DENVER- The third-annual Jessica Ghawi giveSPORTS equipment drive will be held Saturday at the Pepsi Center parking lot from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
When Jessica Ghawi lost her life in the Aurora theater shooting, her family reached out to two organizations to continue her passion for helping Colorado children participate in sports.
Ghawi had started a sports equipment drive and so these organizations did the same.
The annual drive is run by local non-profit A Precious Child, and Kroenke Sports Charities. The drive provides underprivileged Denver-metro area children with the sports equipment they need. Over the last two years, the drive has distributed more than 45,000 pieces of equipment.
The drive has also raised money to give more than 80 children sports scholarships.
If you can't make it to the Pepsi Center, you can donate equipment at participating Walgreens stores on Saturday from 10 A.M to 2 P.M. Click here for a list of locations.
Monetary donations and equipment donations can be made year-round at www.apreciouschild.org. Tomorrow only, Kroenke Sports Charities will be matching all monetary donations of up to $5,000 dollars.
