Some voters receive duplicate ballots for West Metro election

Several residents living in West Metro fire districts told 9NEWS Thursday they had received duplicate ballots for the upcoming mail-in election.

The May 6 election will determine four Board of Directors positions as well as several ballot measures relating to services by West Metro Fire Rescue.

In a statement on its Facebook page, West Metro said it is aware of the duplicates and reminded people to vote only once.

It says it sends ballots based on both voter registration lists and property owners lists, and the software it uses to avoid duplicates does not catch names that are not an exact match.

West Metro said anyone with a duplicate ballot should mail in one and destroy the other. West Metro did not say how many duplicate ballots were sent.
