FRISCO, Colo. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a second suspect in a violent machete attack near Keystone.
Deputy District Attorney John Franks says the 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, menacing and conspiracy for the June 17 attack on Swan Mountain Road east of Sapphire Point. The Summit Daily reports the DA's office is expected to determine within about a week whether to try the boy as an adult.
A deputy found the 18-year-old victim stumbling on the road, covered in blood and with deep cuts on his face.
The man, whose name has not been released, told investigators 20-year-old Tyrus Walter Vanmatre, of Littleton, drove him to Summit County under false pretenses and attacked him. The victim fought back, escaped and hid in the woods.
