Attempted murder charges filed in bat beating

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Prosecutors have filed attempted murder charges against two teenagers accused of beating a 30-year-old developmentally disabled man unconscious in his Boulder apartment.

The Daily Camera reports Austin Holford and Luke Pelham, both 18, were charged Monday with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault on an at-risk victim, aggravated robbery and first-degree burglary stemming from the March 31 beating of Aaron Tuneberg.

Police say Tuneberg suffered serious head injuries when he was beaten with an aluminum baseball bat and a golf club during the theft of a video game console.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean Finn says Tuneberg is not expected to survive. Prosecutors are expected to file murder charges against Holford and Pelham if the man dies.
