Bomb squad activity on 16th Street Mall

DENVER - The Denver Police Bomb Squad worked to investigate a bag left by a man with known mental health issues near the corner of 16th and Lawrence streets early Wednesday morning.

Police say the man made some comments about what’s inside the bag and what it might do, prompting officers to call the bomb squad as a precaution.

Despite the police activity, there were no major street closures in the area.

It’s unclear if the man was taken into custody.

No additional information was immediately available.
