At Wednesday’s preliminary hearing, two Greeley police officers testified to the evidence laid out by Deputy District Attorney Michael Pirraglia, and a judge found there was enough evidence to proceed to trial.

The judge set Rodriguez’s bond at $1 million.

According to court testimony, Ortiz was shot in the early morning hours of July 16. A witness told investigators Ortiz knocked on the front door of a house, located at 909 C Street, when he was shot multiple times. A medical examination showed Ortiz had seven gunshot wounds and four bullets still lodged in his body.

Rodriguez is scheduled for an arraignment on Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. in Division 16.

He’s currently being held in the Weld County Jail.
