KUSA - A 33-year-old Lakewood man convicted of trying to lure a 12-year-old girl over the internet in a police sting was sentenced Friday to six years.
In May 2013, Ryan MacLeod responded to Craigslist ad titled "BabysiTter needed -- ww4m -- 31 (Aurora)." The ad was part of an internet sting led by the Aurora Police Department.
The body of the posting read, "Working mom needs a strong male babysitter for my beautiful 12 year old daughter." MaCleod responded to the ad, saying he was "VERY much interested."
In addition, the defendant had a 15 minute, sexually explicit phone call with who he thought was the child, when it was in fact a female officer of APD.
On June 11, 2013, the detective arranged to meet MacLeod at a drive-thru restaurant, but instead found him at a nearby convenience store. When the officers placed him in custody, the defendant told the officers that he was only there "looking for work."
