Description of cars possibly connected to teen's shooting death

THORNTON - Police are hoping the public can offer more information into the shooting death of a Thornton teen.

Haley Vargas, 16, was shot at a party on the 13000 block of Monaco Way during the early morning hours on Saturday. She was transported to a local hospital where she died.

Police are looking for a black SUV, possible a Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, or Cadillac Escalade, with at least two people inside.

They are also seeking a red 4-door sedan, early to mid-1990s model, possibly a Honda or Toyota, with four to six people inside. This car was last seen parked in the 12900 Block of Leyden Street the night of the shooting.

On Saturday, police said the suspect was described as a Hispanic male, skinny, in his late teens or early 20s. He was about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and wore a gold hoop ring in his nostril, had eye glasses and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Anyone who may have taken pictures or video of that night are asked to come forward.
