Driver accused of killing man crossing street due in court

KUSA - The driver responsible for running a red light and plowing into a man crossing the street is due in court Thursday.

Christopher Tarr, 40, has a preliminary hearing in the afternoon. Investigators say he was driving drunk when he hit and killed 22-year-old Dalton McCreary, whose final act was pushing a friend out of the way – saving his life.

This isn’t Tarr’s first brush with the law. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving in 2013, a DUI and reckless driving in 2010.

He also pleaded guilty to operation of an unsafe vehicle back in 1996.

Tarr has been charged with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide for the latest incident.
