AURORA - For the second time in a week, an Aurora family was the victim of a bias-motivated crime according to police.

On November 22, KKK and a racial slur were spray painted on the door of an apartment in the 2200 block of East Briarwood Drive.

"It’s very insensitive and disturbing," the victim told 9NEWS last week.  "I just can’t imagine anybody would think it’s okay to do that. It’s not a joke, it’s not funny, you’re putting people at risk by doing this, and you’re allowing other people to show their hatred in ways that is not acceptable."

Tuesday night the victim arrived home to find notes attached to her door with additional racial slurs and a threat.

Aurora's mayor and police chief condemned the incidents during a press conference Wednesday.

"We take this kind of act seriously," said Mayor Steve Hogan. "This is not Aurora. It's not been Aurora. It's not aurora today. It will not be Aurora. We want to make clear we do not and will not tolerate this kind of activity in the city."

They also say others in the community have responded in a positive way to support the victim.

"When this incident occurred the first time and last night to see the community come out in the way it has in support of this family to make sure this family knows that they're not alone that not only folks from the community are there to help them but to also community that the city of Aurora and its police department are here to help as well," said Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz.

In addition to these two incidents, police say there were several other recent incidents that were reported by community members but not the actual victims.

As of now police say they have no suspects.

"You’re a coward, and your behavior is not acceptable, and your behavior will not be tolerated, and if and when they do find the people responsible, I would want them prosecuted to the full extent of the law," the victim told 9NEWS.

NOTE: police have asked 9NEWS to no longer identify the victim or show her picture because she fears for her safety.
