AURORA - It took more than four hours for police to find the suspect in a stabbing that left a man dead Friday morning in an Aurora neighborhood – and it was thanks to one observant patrol officer.
The stabbing was first reported at around 8:05 a.m. in the 13000 block of East 13th Avenue – near Vaughn Elementary School.
The victim, who has hasn’t been identified, died at the hospital.
Investigators were able to get a description of the suspect and his vehicle – prompting a metro-wide “be on the lookout” notification.
At around 12:20 p.m., an officer saw the suspect on an RTD bus at East Mississippi Avenue and South Chambers Road.
That person was taken into custody without incident.
Police are waiting to identify the suspect until he is booked into the Aurora Detention Center. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim.
