Heidi Montag's dad arrested for child sex abuse

KUSA- Reality television star Heidi Montag's father, Bill Montag of Glenwood Springs, is in custody and charged with several counts of child sex abuse and incest, according to court records filed in Arapahoe County.

Montag was arrested Thursday evening by Aspen police. A 29-page arrest affidavit outlines years of abuse Montag allegedly inflicted on a girl starting when she was 13 years old.

The abuse allegedly began in 1993 and continued until she was 17 years old.

Due to the statute of limitations, Montag is only eligible to be charged with crimes that occurred after July 1st, 1996, when the victim would have been 16 years old.

Court records allege the abuse started while Montag and his family lived in Frisco and continued after the family moved to Centennial.

9NEWS does not reveal the identities of victims of sexual assault and will not release more information about the abuse to protect the victim.

The victim did tell authorities she came forward after all of these years to protect other girls from becoming victims.

William Montag has worked as a ski instructor over the years and according to his Facebook page he recently worked at Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club.

The arrest affidavit indicates Montag abused the victim at least 50 different times.

Heidi Montag has been on such shows on MTV including "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" and the spin-off show, "The Hills." Heidi was born in Crested Butte in 1986 and lived in Colorado with her older sister, Holly, and her father and mother, Darlene, until the two divorced in 1990. Both parents remarried. Holly is also a reality star.

There is no indication in court documents that William Montag is accused of abusing either Heidi or Holly.
