ASSOCIATED PRESS - A Jefferson County inmate who was wounded in a shootout with deputies was found dead in his cell of an apparent suicide.
The Denver Post reports a deputy and a jail counselor found 40-year-old David Little unresponsive with a ligature around his neck Tuesday evening. He was being housed in administrative segregation because of past behavior that jail officials found threatening to the safety of guards and other inmates.
Little led Jefferson County police on a car chase in June that ended when he shot at officers through his windshield. He was hit several times and was booked into the jail June 28.
Little was being held on charges of sexual assault of a child, attempted assault with a deadly weapon, attempted first-degree murder and first-degree murder.
