Inmate escaped custody by pretending to be another inmate

ADAMS COUNTY - An inmate in Adams County escaped from custody after telling deputies he was a different inmate who supposed to be released that day.

Over the weekend, the Adams County Sheriff's Office says Shannon Owens, 23, was found at a motel and taken into custody without incident.

Owens was being held at the Adams County detention facility on parole violations.

In 2008, he was charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault but the charges were dropped in a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to charges of robbery, aggravated assault and trespassing in 2007 and 2008.
