Man charged in double slaying found not guilty

ASPEN - A jury has found a man accused of killing his aunt and uncle in the western Colorado town of El Jebel not guilty by reason of insanity.

Jurors acquitted 35-year-old Williams Amaya on Friday of two counts of first-degree murder stemming from the July 12, 2014, deaths of 40-year-old Mayra Lopez and her husband, 42-year-old Eliseo Lopez. Each was shot four times.

Amaya will be committed to the state hospital and will not be released until it's determined that he no longer has a mental condition that could make him a danger to himself or others.

Investigators say Amaya told them he killed the couple because they disparaged his family, who he said consisted of Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and John McCain. He also claimed to be the "son of Lucifer."
