Olympic wrestler cited for shooting deer at dealership

COLORADO SPRINGS - Colorado Springs Police cited an Olympic wrestler for shooting an arrow at a deer at a local Lexus dealership.

According to Colorado Springs Police, witnesses saw Dremiel Byers hunting the deer. The animal was hit by an arrow, and the Department of Wildlife was called to assist.

The buck was located and so was Byers.

Byers, 39, was charged with several hunting and wildlife violations by DOW. It was a misdemeanor, so he was released.

Byers placed ninth in the 2012 Olympic Games in the 120kg class of Greco-Roman and placed seventh in the 2008 Olympic Games in the same class of Greco-Roman wrestling.

Byers also holds the rank of Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army.
