PD: Man on drugs when he plowed into store

DENVER – A 24-year-old man has been formally charged with plowing his SUV into the corner of an optics store on Colorado Boulevard and East Amherst Avenue, leaving five people including himself injured – two seriously.

Ryan Nuanez is charged with vehicular assault, three counts of third-degree assault, driving under the influence of drugs and driving under revocation.

The incident happened on July 12. Police say his SUV, which was traveling on the wrong side of the street, narrowly missed a lamp post and fire hydrant before it crashed into Accent Optics.

Nuanez suffered serious arm injuries.

He remains in custody, and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 18 to be formally advised of his charges,
