Police arrest mother of infant who drowned in pool

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - The mother of an infant boy who drowned in a backyard pool in Grand Junction has been charged with child abuse resulting in death after investigators determined she was likely drunk before the child was found in the water.

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports 29-year-old Grace Aragon was arrested Tuesday for the death of 9-month-old Rylan Kruckenberg, who was found in the pool June 24.

Prosecutors say Aragon told police she had consumed several glasses of champagne the night before she found the boy. She also said she took numerous pills with alcohol after finding her son in the pool and before calling 911.

Defense attorney Daniel Garcia says Aragon has sought treatment and has submitted to frequent alcohol monitoring tests.
