Police capture sexual assault suspect after chase

FORT COLLINS COLORADOAN - Police officers captured a man late Wednesday night who allegedly threatened a woman with a knife then attempted to hit patrol vehicles before fleeing on foot.

Fort Collins police received a call at 9:51 p.m. regarding a sex assault with a weapon in the 4400 block of College Avenue. The male suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Jessie Frias, reportedly threatened the female victim with a knife. The victim was able to escape with minor injuries.

When officers arrived, they located a vehicle matching a description of the suspect’s pickup. When officers tried to contact Frias, he fled in his vehicle.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Colorado State Patrol troopers assisted Fort Collins officers in pursuing Frias. He attempted to hit several patrol vehicles during the incident. Frias then crashed his pickup at the intersection of Harmony and Snow Mesa roads in southeast Fort Collins and fled on foot.
