Suspect arrested after SWAT situation in Wheat Ridge

A woman called police about a fight with her boyfriend at home.

WHEAT RIDGE - A man has been arrested following a standoff that last several hours in Wheat Ridge early Tuesday morning. 

West Metro SWAT crews were called to a home in the 2700 block of Ames Street – just west of 26th Ave and Sheridan Boulevard—at about 1 a.m. after a woman reported a fight with her boyfriend where a shot was fired. 

Once officers arrived at the scene, the man barricaded himself inside the home. Just before 6:30 a.m., police were able to take the suspect into custody.

No injuries were reported. 

Early commuters were asked to avoid West 26th Avenue and Ames Street as police had the area closed off.
