Suspect in custody in Aurora motel homicide

AURORA - A suspect was taken into custody at a Colorado Springs apartment Tuesday morning in the death of a man shot in the parking lot of a motel last week.

The victim, identified as 32-year-old Marquette D. Killingsworth, was shot in the chest outside the Rivera Motel at Colfax Avenue and Beeler Street in the early morning hours of May 4.

The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, as arrested in the 3500 block of Parkmoor Village Drive in Colorado Springs.

Police also executed a search warrant at that location.

It’s unclear if the victim knew the suspect, or what the motive was for the killing.

What happened remains under investigation.
