Juvenile shot in Aurora, suspect at large

Aurora Police are looking for a suspect who ran away after a shooting Thursday afternoon near Utah Park

AURORA - Aurora Police are looking for a suspect who ran away after a shooting Thursday afternoon near Utah Park.

The victim -- a male who is under 18 years old -- was found in the 13000 block of East Jewell Ave. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Police say numerous officers are canvassing the area for the suspect, who is described as a Hispanic man with slicked back black hair.

There’s no word yet on where he might be headed.

Police say anyone who sees the suspect should call 911 immediately.

In a tweet, Aurora Police said the shooting happened in the Jewell Wetlands and not at Overland High School, which is across the street.

It's unknown if the suspect or the victim attend the school.

Overland High School, Prairie Middle School, Eastridge, Ponderosa and Polton Elementary schools were all placed on secure perimeter in wake of the shooting. That has since been lifted, the Cherry Creek School District said.
