Lakewood video game store hit by thieves

Level 7 Games robbed early Monday morning

LAKEWOOD - A small metro area business is taking a hard hit this holiday season.

Burglars smashed a window to get into the Level 7 Games store in Lakewood early Monday morning.

They stole about $15,000 worth of merchandise.

Jonathan Young, the owner of the store, showed us surveillance video of the burglars ransacking the place.

Young believes the thieves were familiar with the store because they seemed to know where to go.

"It was definitely someone that knew how we operated and where we kept our product," Young said.

Young says the burglars went right for the area where all the used game discs are stored.

"This is when he empties our trash can throws the bag on the floor and starts dumping all our used games from our disc drawer into that," said Young. "So that's basically all our used disc-game product went in one swoop."

They don't have a good description of the burglars.

This isn't the first time the store has dealt with thieves this holiday season. Someone recently stole a large inflatable Mario that was displayed at the store.

"This is our busiest time of year and now I'm missing most of my product, so this is going to hit us hard," Young said.
