GREELEY – Greeley Police confirm they have found the body of a trespassing suspect inside of a Greeley home. They're now trying to determine if the "Make My Day" law applies in this case.

The homeowners say the suspect shot at them, prompting one of them to return fire.

The incident started a little before 11 a.m. Wednesday, when police received reports of a woman trespassing in someone's home. The homeowner told police she left when confronted.

When officers arrived to the residence, they said they were outside talking to the homeowner when two men from a neighboring house ran up to them and reported a different trespassing incident, saying a man had broken into their house.

Police said they cordoned off the site and advised nearby residents to remain inside and stay away from windows.

The SWAT team was called, and a woman, a girlfriend of one of the men who said the trespasser was inside, left when she was told it was safe.

The Greeley Bomb Team sent a remote-controlled robot into the home, which found a dead man in the basement.

The suspect was shot inside the house, investigators say. The District Attorney's Office will determine if the "Make My Day" law applies to the shooting.

Authorities have not yet identified the suspect.
