SUMMIT COUNTY - A Summit High School senior is at a Denver hospital in critical condition after suffering a heart attack during wrestling practice.
During a Wednesday evening wrestling practice, 17-year-old Tristan White collapsed in the wrestling room.
He was hospitalized and later airlifted by Flight for Life to Denver.
Jaimee Borger with the Summit County School District says Tristan's injury has impacted the entire high school where counselors spent Thursday day talking with students.
"It is an impact on the student body and the staff. Last night, the wrestling team families were contacted and invited to come into the school this morning to have a counseling session and meet with their coaches. The wrestling match that was scheduled has been cancelled," Borger said.
Along with wrestling, Tristan is also an active member in the schools symphonic band and has written original compositions.
